Wave Studies ← Back to the portfolio

On Provincetown beach studying waves for a few weeks. At first all I could see was the idea of a wave. I later realized I had been inundated with photos of waves so much so that I could not see the actual wave in front of me.
Upon returning to NYC I went to the Brooklyn museum and saw paintings of waves…but none that interested me. Then I wandered about and stumbled into an area where the work looked more like what I had found and drawn. That’s when I realized the photo block that had occurred- these images were made before photography had occurred!
This was creepy to me. The fact that I can’t see what has been “programmed” out of me. I guess I can’t feel, think, smell, etc… many other things as well. So, how to get back to Nirvana?
